I am a stay-at-home mom. I've been married to Mark for 7 years, each better than the last. We currently have two children - daughter Elise (10) and son Jasper (almost 2) and would love to have more. I was a single mother with Elise, and when Mark and I got married, he adopted her. I couldn't have asked for a better husband - he even has green eyes, as requested!
I enjoy many crafts and creative outlets - the overarching theme? I like to work with my hands. I'm quite comfortable using them to cook, draw, paint, knit, sew, build, and more. I love exotic and varied cooking; Moroccan, Indian, and Polish are just a few, and my spice cabinet was overflowing for a while, until I gave it a thorough purging. Jotting a quick sketch to demonstrate what an animal looks like, or to explain how I picture building those shelves, is no big deal. I recently finished an undersea mural in my daughter's room, completing the room with mermaid tail curtains and a net of shells. And who wants to buy an itchy acrylic/wool hat with buttons and pom-poms and a design sure to come unraveled, when he/she can knit a soft warm hat of merino with just the right touches that will last for at least a decade of use? And the shelves drawn earlier? I really enjoy using power tools! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! But you don't need to be afraid - at least, not very.
I started this blog to have a place to publish a knitting pattern, so I could link it to Ravelry.com to share, but I am nearly constantly coming across interesting things to share, things which I find compelling. Compelling me... to change, to grow, to try new things, and sometimes, to throw my hands up in disgust and say, "why do I try?" (fortunately, that last one doesn't happen very often).
I humbly hope to offer up miscellaneous tidbits that are lively, inventive, and compelling.
